How it works

From idea to in-camera.

01 — Plan

Pre-vis & planning

Elsewhere's VP supervisor help plan the shots, the wall size and the workflow your creative actually needs.

02 — Create

Content & backplates

Elsewhere can source or build your background environments so they work the way you need them to.

03 — Build

Build & calibration

The LED volume is tested and colour-calibrated, and modified to your bespoke requirements.

04 — Shoot

Shoot day

An LED operator and VP supervisor run the volume and work with your crew to make it pixel perfect in camera.

Content for the wall

What plays on the screen.

Stock Environments & Driving Plates01 — Library content

Still images, video and pre-filmed driving plates from a ready-made library — the fastest, most cost-effective route to creating backplates.

Retouched AI Backplates02 — Generated & refined

AI-generated backplates, retouched and art-directed by hand — bespoke environments without committing to a full CG build.

3D Gaussian Splatting03 — Volumetric capture

Real locations captured as photoreal 3D splats with true volumetric parallax — a real place to move the camera through without building a set.

Pre-Rendered CGI Content04 — Offline rendered

Fully bespoke environments rendered offline — the choice when you need animated elements or backplates to match storyboards without camera tracking + unreal.

Real-time Unreal Engine Environments05 — Real-time engine

Live Unreal Engine worlds for total control with true camera parallax when using camera tracking — change the sun position, edit your scene and layout on the spot.

Good to know

VP questions, answered.

It depends entirely on your shot. Tight product and editorial work can sit on a compact wall, while full-figure fashion or motion needs a taller, wider volume. Share your shot list and references and Elsewhere will spec the smallest wall that comfortably covers every frame — no more, no less.
No. The resident volume in Studio 2 is the quickest and most affordable way to get shooting, the alternative is a custom build. Elsewhere can scale up the existing wall or build a custom configuration for your shoot — the approach is tailored, not fixed.
Yes. Elsewhere can help source stock plates, build static or animated backgrounds and also build fully trackable environment with Unreal Engine. Pre-vis up front helps everyone knows what the wall will show before the build begins.
When you need true camera responsiveness to your 3d scene, motion tracking is required and it becomes part of an Unreal Engine workflow. The physical camera is synced to a virtual camera in the 3d space so from the camera's perspective the background moves in parallax like a real background.
The resident volume is ready to go. Custom builds may need build and strike days either side of the shoot, which Elsewhere factor into your schedule and quote up front. They always map the full plan with you before you commit.
Not always — and we'll be honest about it. VP shines when you need real reflections, multiple locations, controllable conditions or final pixels in-camera. If a green screen or a practical build serves your shot better, we'll point you there. Tell us about the project and we'll advise.
